Install Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OTA Firmware Update on Nexus 6

Google have started rolling new operating system updates on various android devices, and the latest OS version (Android 5.1.1) OTA update is now available for Nexus 6 smartphones. This latest update latest update comes with build number LMY47Z for the Sprint, International variants and US Cellular. Another build number is LYZ28E for T-Mobile only.

As the OTA update of the latest android operating system (Android 5.1.1 lollipop) might take some days or weeks to reach your Nexus 6 android smartphone, then I would advise you to make use of the manual method to install the update.

Install Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OTA Firmware Update on Nexus 6

» First off, Download and install the Nexus 6 USB drivers on your computer.

» After that, download ABD and fastboot files here, and then extract to the desktop menu of your computer.

» Now, download any of the below OTA firmware.

» After you've downloaded any of the above files, then rename it to and move it to the ABD fastboot folder you downloaded in the second step.

» Now, connect your Nexus 6 device to your computer vis USB cable, then once your device is detected, simply open the ABD folder and then open a command prompt ( Press Shift + Right-click on any empty space inside the folder, and select Open command window here from the context menu).

» After that, then run the below command in the command prompt windows.

adb reboot recovery

» The above command should boot your device to recovery mode, then press Volume up for a second and then release the button, and you would view the recovery menu.

» Once you've gotten to recovery menu, then use Volume Down button to highlight apply update from ADB and tap Power button to select.

» Now, from your command prompt window on your computer, input the below command.

adb sideload

» The above command would start the installation process. Just wait for few minutes, and the process would be completed.

Once the process is completed, your Nexus 6 device would restart automatically, and you would begin to enjoy the new experience of Android 5.1.1 on your Nexus 6 android smartphone.
