[Guide] How to customize Windows 10 – Tips and Tricks

→Split Screen

Windows 10 has allegedly merged everything good about windows so far. It is a successful integration of the most applauded features of Windows 7 and 8. The OS is designed to function flawlessly across different devices. Here are some tweaks that can make you windows experience better:


  •   Open the window or the app page that you require to view in split screen.
  •   Move your mouse to the topmost [part of the open window.
  •   Click and hold the left click button and drag the page to the right/left corner of the screen.
  •   You will see that the window will automatically resize to take up half of the screen size an apt 50 %.
  •   Now click on the next window or app that you need on the other side of the screen and drag towards the opposite side of the open window.
  •   The window will automatically re adjust delivering you a split screen that will make your work a lot easier.
  •   You can use the black vertical line that will be bypassing through the center splitting the both screens to adjust the size of view for both sides.
  •   In an event the above steps do not work try using the shortcut key Windows Key + Left or Right Arrow. Please make sure that you do not use the shift key button.

Besides this there is an option that allows you to split screens into 4 different quadrants , all you have to do is to move your window to one side of the screen and then press the Windows Key + Up Arrow to move it to the upper quadrant or press Windows Key+ Down Arrow to move it to the lower quadrant.


→Start Menu

Tired of seeing the bulky tiled start Menu? It’s very easy to get rid of it. All you have to do is follow these steps:

  •   Right Click on each individual tiles and select Unpin from Start.
  •   To access installed apps and programs all you need to do is click on the All Apps icon, it works pretty much like the All Programs icon of windows 10.


→Scheduling Restarts

Scheduling restarts can help you avoid the frustration that happens when the OS when restarted takes time to install updates, by scheduling restart you can make sure that this process happens naturally without wasting your time. Follow these steps to schedule a restart:

  •   Open Windows Setting option from Start Menu.
  •   From updates and Recovery select Windows Update.
  •   In case you have a pending update the screen will show on the left side.
  •   Click on Select a Restart Time radio button and set time for restart.
  •   You can also go to advanced options and click and select Notify for scheduled restart in case there is a pending update.

→Turning on the God Mode

The God Mode is a hidden folder that has access to all the tweaks that windows 10 offers and what is normally hard to find, it is the final destination for any form of tweaking you want to do.Follow these steps to get access to God Mode:

  •   Run File Explorer and Click View.
  •   Check the box next to hidden items and File Name Extensions
  •   Right click at the desktop and create a new folder.
  •   Rename the folder to GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
  •   The name does not have to be GodMode, it's the code inside the curly brackets that is important.
  •   Make sure that the Letters in the Curly bracket does not gets replaced.
