The Samsung Galaxy S6 is an android device running on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop out of the box, and upgrade to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop is now available with better experience of lollipop operating system. This updated rolled out few days ago (as of the time of publishing) and most Galaxy S6 users can easily update theirs over-the-air.
Before I proceed to the guide, I would first brief you on how you can update your Samsung galaxy mobile via OTA and kies.
Important Notice:
Step 2: Enable USB debugging on Samsung Galaxy S6 SM-G920F. To enable, simply go to settings >> Developers option, and enable from there. If the developers option isn’t visible, then go to About Phone under settings, and scroll down to Build number, then tap up to 7 times, till you get a message saying you’re now a developer. Now, go back to settings >> developers option and enable USB debugging.
Step 3: After that, download Samsung Galaxy S6 SM-G920F Android 5.1.1 Lollipop stock rom here and extract the zip folder to desktop screen of your computer.
Step 4: After that, Boot your Galaxy S6 SM-G920F into Download Mode. To perform the operation, you have to power off your device and then press, Volume Down + Power + Home. Press Volume Up now to continue to Download Mode.
Step 5: Once your device is in download mode, simply connect the phone to your PC via the use of USB cable and the ODIN application would notify an added message. You should see a blue box on the ODIN screen if all drivers are installed properly, if not, re-install and reboot PC.
Step 6: After that, choose AP in Odin and select the firmware file with .tar extension in which you have downloaded. Also endeavor that the re-partition is not ticked in the odin.
Note: If there are other files in the extracted folder like “MODEM”, simply select the file under “CP” section and tick “CP”. If there is files like CSC, PIT and BL, do select under their section and tick their partition. If not, ignore this note.
Also note that, AP stands for PDA, BL stands for Bootloader and CP stands for Modem.
Step 7: Finally, click on the start button, and the process would begin immediately. Once the process is completed, you would notice the RESET or PASS message on the ODIN screen. Then your device would boot into recovery mode, and the device would be restarted automatically.
